Daniel Fetner is a General Partner at Alpaca, having joined in July of 2018. Daniel co-heads Alpaca’s PropTech investing efforts across the venture life cycle. In this capacity, Daniel is responsible for sourcing and evaluating prospective investments, sitting on boards and managing Alpaca VC’s PropTech portfolio, overseeing the firm’s research-driven Field Study & MBA Associate program, and fundraising and managing the relationships of Alpaca’s most important and strategic Limited Partners.
Daniel’s interest in PropTech results from his experience and family roots in real estate and construction. Within PropTech, Daniel is most excited about technologies impacting Real Estate Capital Markets, the intersection of FinTech & PropTech, and Construction & Development Tech.
Prior to joining Alpaca, Daniel graduated from the Wharton School, with an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management. During school, Daniel worked with five different venture capital firms including Samsung Ventures, TATA Communications Corporate Venture Capital, Third Kind Venture Capital, Genacast Ventures & Alumni Venture Group. Daniel was also on the Investment Committee for the Penn Wharton Innovation Fund and is an InSITE alumni. In addition to his Venture Capital experience, Daniel also co-founded two companies – one in Wealth Tech (Instrument Capital) and one in Construction Tech (Soil Connect). Both companies continue to operate today, and Daniel remains involved in an advisory capacity.
Daniel started his career as an Analyst in J.P. Morgan Asset Management and eventually worked his way up to be a Private Banker at The J.P. Morgan Private Bank. As a Banker, Daniel built a $200M+ book of business focused on NYC’s “Silicon Alley” Entrepreneurs & Investors. Prior to J.P. Morgan Daniel graduated with a BBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. During undergrad, Daniel spent three summers in Real Estate Investment Banking & Private Equity with Cushman & Wakefield and G4 Capital Partners.
Daniel grew up in Rockville Centre, New York. Today, he lives in Boca Raton with his wife, Ariel, their son Liam, their daughter Georgie, and their dog, Bueller. During his spare time, he enjoys traveling, playing sports and spending time with his family.
